The Spill Canvas, South Dakota's sensational indie rock and emo pop artists are bring their signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
The Spill Canvas started off in Sioux Falls (South Dakota) in 2002 as a side project of vocalist Nick Thomas. He recruited Joe Beck, Ross Wheeler, and Brandon Aegerter to turn the project into a band and they went on tour to promote their first album. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), emo pop (a genre that retains emo’s confessional lyrics and cathartic energy, while embracing more pop oriented influences to create sound that blends youthful angst with slick production and mainstream appeal), and power pop (a style that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American rock music and typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, clear vocals and crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements, and prominent guitar riffs). The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Nick (lead vocals, guitars, piano, and production), Landon Heil (bass), Bryce Job (drums, percussion, tracking, and backing vocals), and Mike Naran (touring guitar and backing vocals). They've released 7 studio albums and 4 extended plays.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists mix vintage power pop with a modern approach informed by the emo/indie scene!
