The Architects, England’s sensational metalcore artists are bringing their electrifying sounds to Saint Andrews Hall!
The band was formed in Brighton in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. They initially called themselves Inharmonic, then changed it to Counting Days, and took their current name when they recruited vocalist Matt Johnson, guitarist Tim Hillier-Brook, and bass guitarist Tim Lucas to complete the line-up. The band has been through numerous line-up changes since its formation and currently consists of Tom Searle (lead guitar, keyboards), Dan Searle (drums, programming), Alex Dean (bass guitar), Sam Carter (vocals), and Adam Christianson (rhythm guitar). Their musical style offers the metalcore genre to a more mainstream audience and it’s characterized by choppy and complex guitar riffs along with uncommon time signatures and rhythmic breakdowns. Sam’s vocals are a unique blend of coarse screaming and melodic singing and the band uses dark and surrealist imagery in their music videos. Band members cite hardcore punk and heavy metal acts such as Botch, Converge, Decapitated, Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Gojira, Hatebreed, Meshuggah, Shadows Fall, Slipknot, and Thric as their main influences. They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 1 joint album (with the Dead Swans), and 22 music videos. They also made their own documentary titled One Hundred Days: The Story of Architects Almost World Tour.
