Syd Tha Kyd (birth name Sydney Barrett) was born in Los Angeles in 1992 and is a singer, songwriter, record producer, disc jockey, and audio engineer. Her musical style is best described as a blend of alternative R&B, soul, electronica (an umbrella term that encompasses a broad group of electronic based styles such as techno, house, ambient, drum and bass, jungle, and industrial dance, among others), trip hop (a subgenre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, as an experimental variant of breakbeat), and hip hop soul (a subgenre of contemporary R&B - most popular during the early and mid 1990s - which fuses rhythm and blues/gospel singing with hip hop musical production). She’s had a stellar career with 1 studio albums, 1 extended play, 2 singles, and she's done production work Mike G (member of hip hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) and rapper Domo Genesis.
