Rittz, Pennsylvania’s sensational hip hop music artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Rittz (birth name Jonathan McCollum) was born in Waynesburg (Pennsylvania) in 1980 and as a child, he was heavily influenced by his parents’ interest in rock and roll music. He began his musical journey by winning a rap battle contest on radio station Hot 107.9 and it would have led to a record deal had it not been for contractual and managerial disputes. He was close to quitting the rap game completely and he said in an interview, “I won Battlegrounds on Hot 107.9, got retired and sh*t and felt like I was ‘bout to make it. But, so many industry up and downs, with managers, contracts…”. His luck changed when he was contacted by fellow rapper Yelawolf in 2009. He recruited Rittz to feature as a guest artist on a single (Box Chevy) from his 2010 extended play, Trunk Musik 0-60. The collaboration became Rittz’s breakthrough and the duo have worked together frequently since then. Rittz released his debut mixtape (White Jesus) in 2011 and it led to a record deal with Strange Music, Inc in 2012. He went on to release 3 studio albums, 13 music videos, 1 extended play, 3 singles, and another mixtape.
