Playboi Carti, Georgia’s sensational hip hop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Playboi Carti (birth name Jordan Carter) is a rapper from Atlanta. He began his musical journey by rapping when he was a little kid. He said in an interview, “I was at my grandma's house and I was just sayin' whatever, and they were giving me dollars being like "keep going, keep going" and I was just rapping. That was the first time I was actually rapping…In high school I took rapping serious. In my senior year I didn't know if I was going to graduate 'cause I was failing and skipping school and getting high, sipping lean and shit. It was to the point where I was skipping school every day to go to the studio, but that really made me. Really it was natural, I guess. I’m intelligent so I had a way with words. I had that flow: simple but exclusive, like [a] trademark flow: that Carti sound. I made a song on Garage Band named Cry. It was weak, but I had a lot of people in my ear telling me it was “fye” (good) so I was like why not keep going?” He released a few singles on SoundCloud and started to get mainstream recognition when 2 of them (Fetti and Broke Boi) went viral.
Don’t miss your chance to see this artist add a unique touch hip hop music!
