Paul Weller, England’s sensational rock and soul artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
John William "Paul" Weller, Jr. was born in Woking (Surrey, England) in 1958 and is a singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist (guitar and piano). Over the years, his musical style is best described as punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid-1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics), new wave (a genre of rock music that moved away from smooth blues and rock and roll sounds to create pop music that incorporated electronic and experimental music, mod, and disco), mod revival, and blue eyed soul (a term coined in the mid 1960s to describe white artists who performed soul and R&B that was similar to the music of the Motown and Stax record labels). He’s had a stellar career with 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, 4 compilation albums, 13 video albums, 3 extended plays, and 39 singles. He’s received many accolades including 4 BRIT Awards and the BBC has called him “one of the most revered music writers and performers of the past 30 years.”
