Mutemath, Louisiana’s sensational alternative rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Mutemath was formed in New Orleans in 2002 by vocalist and multi instrumentalist Paul Meany and percussionist Darren King. A year later, they recruited guitarist Greg Hill and went to work on their debut extended play (2004). The band’s been through a few ling up changes since then and it currently consists of Paul (vocals, keyboard, piano, and guitar), Darren (drums and percussion), Todd Gummerman (guitar, keyboard, programmer, and vocals), and Jonathan Allen (bass and keyboard). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres alternative rock, electronica (an umbrella term that encompasses a broad group of electronic based styles such as techno, house, ambient, drum and bass, jungle, and industrial dance, among others), psychedelic soul (a genre that emerged in the late 1960s by soul musicians embracing elements of psychedelic rock, including its production techniques and drug influence), and post rock (a form of experimental rock characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock music, but using rhythms not traditionally found in it). They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 2 live albums, 1 remix album, 5 extended plays, 16 singles, and a Dove Award (for Best Modern Rock Song).
