Missio, Texas’ sensational pop/rock and electronic artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Missio was formed in Austin in 2014 and is a duo consisting of singer and songwriter Matthew Brue along with producer and instrumentalist David Butler.
Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegazing), synth pop (a subgenre of new wave music that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument), and indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). Their breakthrough came with their 2017 single (Middle Fingers) hitting #9, #10, and #19 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Rock Airplay, and Hot Rock Songs chart respectively. To date, it’s had 44,000 digital downloads and 3. 8 million on demand streams in the United States alone. Matthew said in an interview, “That's a very unifying song…definitely based toward an 'eff this situation' mode, but the message is about finding the problem you struggle with, and lifting your middle finger with other people.” Missio’s debut studio album (Loner) comes out in May 2017.
