Lights, Canada's sensational electro pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Lights (birth name Valerie Anne Poxleitner) was born in Timmins (Ontario, Canada) in 1987 and is a singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist (synthesizer, keytar, guitar, and piano). Her musical style is best described as a blend of electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary usage of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres in that songwriting is emphasized over simple danceability) and indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). She’s had a stellar career with 4 studio albums (all of which were top 10 hits on the Canadian Albums chart), 1 compilation album, 5 extended plays, 21 singles, 23 music videos, and she's collaborated with many renowned artists such as Holy Fuck, Shad, Owl City, Ten Second Epic, Kaskade, Swanky Tunes, Borgeous, Seven Lions, and Steve James. She's received many accolades including 2 Juno Awards (for Best New Artist and Pop Album of the Year) and 2 Indie Awards (for Favourite Solo Artist and Astral Media Radio Favourite Single).
