Gin Blossoms, Arizona’s sensational alternative rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
Gin Blossoms was formed in Tempe (Arizona) in 1987 by Doug Hopkins, Richard Taylor, Jesse Valenzuela, Bill Leen, and Chris McCann. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Robin Wilson (lead vocals, percussion, harmonica, acoustic guitar), Jesse (rhythm and lead guitar, backing vocals), Bill (bass guitar), Scott "Scotty" Johnson (lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Scott Hessel (drums, percussion).
While their musical style can be broadly classified as alternative rock, it’s best described as a blend of power pop (a style that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American rock music and typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, clear vocals and crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements, and prominent guitar riffs), jangle pop (subgenre of rock music that originated in the 1960s and features trebly, arpeggiated picking - typically on chiming electric twelve string guitars or 6 string guitars, often employing a capo and chord inversions - together with straightforward song structures), and post grunge (a derivative of grunge music that uses the sounds and aesthetics of grunge, but with a more commercially accessible tone). They’ve had a stellar career with five studio albums, one live album, two EPs, two compilation albums, and thirteen singles.
