First Aid Kit, Sweden's sensational indie folk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
First Aid Kit was formed in Enskede (Stockholm, Sweden) in 2007 by sisters Klara (vocals and guitar) and Johanna Söderberg (vocals, bass guitar, keyboards, and autoharp). Their musical style is best described as a blend of folk, indie folk (a style that arose in the 1990s - among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music - and is characterized by a blend of acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation), country folk (a genre that mainly includes the works of contemplative post-Dylan singer-songwriters, who were influenced by his and other late 1960s' and 1970s' artists' country rock sounds, but who preferred a gentler, more acoustic dominant sound that allowed focus on the lyrics). When performing live, the duo is joined by Melvin Duffy (pedal steel guitar), Scott Simpson (drums), and Steve Moore (keyboards, and trombone). They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums (2 of which topped the Swedish charts and have been certified Platinum), 2 extended plays, and 17 singles. They've received many accolades including a Nordic Music Prize (for Best Nordic Album), 4 Swedish Grammis awards, an Americana Award nomination (for Best Emerging Artist), and a BRIT Award nomination (for Best International Group).
