Candlebox, Washington’s sensational hard rock, post grunge, and alternative metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to Saint Andrews Hall!
The band was formed in Seattle in 1990 by Kevin Martin on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Scott Mercado on drums. They called themselves Uncle Duke and recruited Peter Klett on lead guitar and Bardi Martin on bass. A year later, they changed their name to Candlebox after being inspired by the lyrics of Tin Legs and Tin Mines; the 1982 hit single by Australian rock band Midnight Oil. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Kevin (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dave Krusen (drums), Adam Kury (bass, backing vocals), Mike Leslie (lead guitar), and Brian Quinn (rhythm guitar). Their musical style, while rooted in hard rock, also incorporates elements of blues, jazz, grunge and even glam metal. They made a name for themselves with their eponymous debut album hitting #7 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It went on to be certified 4 times Platinum in the US and set them up for a stellar career with 5 more studio albums, 1 compilation album, 1 live album, 11 music videos, and 15 singles. They’ve also performed with renowned acts such as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, and many others.
