Brujeria, California’s sensational death metal, grindcore, and deathgrind artists are bringing their electrifying sounds to the Saint Andrews Hall!
The band was formed in California in 1989 as a side project of guitarist Dino Cazares (founding member of industrial metal band Fear Factory). It’s named after the Spanish word for ‘witchcraft’ and its songs are sung in Spanish, with lyrical themes of Satanism, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, narcotics smuggling, and politics. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Juan Brujo aka John Lepe (vocals), Pinche Peach (vocals, samples), Hongo aka Shane Embury (guitar, bass guitar, drum programming), El Sangron (vocals), El Cynico aka Jeffrey Walker (bass, guitar, vocals), Cuernito (guitar), Hongo Jr. aka Nicholas Barker (drums), Fantasma aka Pat Hoed (vocals, bass), and Pititis aka Gaby Dominguez (female vocals, backing vocals, guitar). They’re renowned for performing under pseudonyms and portray themselves as a Latino band consisting of drug lords who conceal their identities due to being wanted by the FBI. They’re oThey’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 9 singles, and 1 compilation album. Their music has also been featured on the compilation albums Best of Grindcore and Destruction and - Spanglish 101. Their latest album (titled Pocho Aztlan) comes out on 16th September 2016.
